What kind of artist am I?
-- There are many ways that artists express themselves, and I am no exception! I enjoy sketching thiings in my spare time, usually people. I haven't got that great at it yet, but I'm not bad, either. Every time that I draw something, I learn how I can do it better. I enjoy drawing things in a Manga style, but I haven't really mastered too many aspects of that art style. I also enjoy 3D animation, but I haven't taken any classes on that. I also enjoy writing music in a program called Mixcraft5, and I will provide a link to some of my musical work later. The creation of this website is the result of a computer art class that I am taking in my junior year of high school. So far I've learned how to use the program Photoshop to make pictures look better, as well as design board games, T-shirts (the picture at the top of this page is a T-shirt design that I made that I one day hope to wear). I've also learned how to use Illustrator (very similar to Photoshop) and InDesign (a little bit like Illustrator... And the bane of my existence...) I have another website that is also a business of mine. www.thegamekids.net It's been a few months since my business partners and I have done anything because of school work, but we produce Flash games of our own, completely independent of other developers or studios. I do all of the pixel artwork for our games, and I have learned extensively the importance of determination and motivation when creating large (or just tedious) pieces of art.
-- I am not what some would call a "casual artist," and at the same time I have never taken professional art clases. I've never been taught any specific art style. All I did until this school year (2011-2012) was self taught from graphic novels, comics, and even the illustrations in books like The Dark Tower! Also, I've recently started looking up art tutorials and memorizing the information on them... "The length of a human body is seven-eight heads long, and can be adjusted for artists" as well as "there is an equalateral triangle formed between the pupils of the eyes and the middle of a person's closed lips" are two examples of things I've taught myself. I have to say, though, that while I believe that the best way to get people's attention is by being original, I've improved the most during this computer art class. I'm going to learn how to use Adobe Flash as well as Photoshop, which will be an exciting prospect, I'm sure, because I got Flash for Christmas a couple years ago, and already have a basic understanding of how to use it. I also got a neat little device called a Wacom Pad for Christmas, which allows me to draw on a tablet and directly draw things onto a screen. I love it.
